Gurpreet Sethi, 3rd Semester student participated in the conclave and shares her experience. “It was a great learning experience as we got the opportunity to participate in a forum where eminent speakers and industry experts shared their views on current and futuristic trends. In the first session, Mr. K.K.Sinha, Group Director – HR of Jindal Power & Steel Limited and Mr. R.S. Dabas Chief Human Resources Officer, JBM Group spoke on “Next generation organization HR practices: Combat flight in upsurge”.
Analysing the problems faced by industry, the speakers felt most of the problems have got magnified because they were not addressed at root level when the symptoms were visible. Instead organizations compromised with ad hoc and temporary solutions. In current situation the speakers advised young generation to develop listening habits, while having the mind of their own. Analysing the recession situation, the speakers felt it was a good time to re-visit the value system of the company and have higher level of employee engagement by motivating them. In next session Mr. Rajiv Kapoor, Executive vice president – HR, JCB India Limited and Mr. Hari Nair Vice president -HR of Sona Koyo Steering System Limited spoke on “Retention of top talent during upsurge: organization policies & practices”. The factors that influence in retaining people are culture of the organization, location of the organization and training system of the organization. The challenges for
retaining the talent include sustaining equality in organization, encouraging innovation and keeping the organization motivated as a team. The theme of the concluding session was “Innovative practices in reward and recognition to retain top talent”. The speakers were Mr. Sanjeev Sethi Corporate Director, HR, The Imperial and Dr. V.P.Singh Executive Director –HR, Devyani Inernational Ltd.
